Monitor Color Setting

I am using WinXP Professional with my IBM NetVista Computer. My monitor is a Gateway TFT Model FPD1810, Plug & Play Monitor on Intel 82845G/GL/GE/PE/GV Graphics Controller. Resolution is set at 1280x1024. This setting never varies, but the Color Quality setting does! I set it at "Highest (32 bit)". After I use the compter for awhile and check back on the Control Panel & "Display", the display properties
will show the Color Quality as "Lowest (8 bit)". What can I do to insure the Color Quality will stay at the highest setting?
