IRQ Sharing

Hey guys and gals!

Every 2 - 3 minutes my video, audio, mouse movements all go choppy for about 1-2 seconds. I have recently installed a new WD ATA/100, 60 gb hard drive and a Promise ATA/100 card and since then I have had this problem. I reinstalled Win2k on the new HD.

I believe the problem is with IRQ sharing but after trying everything on this message board (swapping slots, removing cards, leaving 1st slot open, turning PnP OpSys off) I have not been able to fix it. I have a Dell XPS B800r and all the other devices should be listed below.

System Information report written at: 11/27/2002 02:49:27 PM
[IRQs]

IRQ Number Device
9 Microsoft ACPI-Compliant System
9 ALL-IN-WONDER RADEON 7500
9 Win2000 Promise Ultra100 TX2 (tm) IDE Controller
9 Initio Ultra SCSI Host Adapter
9 Realtek RTL8139(A)-based PCI Fast Ethernet Adapter #2
9 Creative SB Live! Basic (WDM)
9 Intel(r) 82801AA USB Universal Host Controller
9 Intel(r) 82801AA SMBus Controller
11 PCI Serial Port
8 System CMOS/real time clock
13 Numeric data processor
12 Microsoft PS/2 Mouse
1 Standard 101/102-Key or Microsoft Natural PS/2 Keyboard
6 Standard floppy disk controller
4 Communications Port (COM1)
14 Primary IDE Channel
15 Secondary IDE Channel

Any ideas?

IRQ's

If you are not using IRQ 3, 5 or 7
try allocating one of the above unused IRQ's to the Promise controler's PCI slot in the BIOS. Or move the Promise controler to the PCI slot on the mobo that is not shared with any other IRQ( if the Dell has such a feature?)And set P+P OS to " No" in the BIOS.
Good luck
Len
