    Approximately every 30mins cmdagent.exe (part of comodo firewall) is downloading around 10-15Mb of data.

    I've unchecked "Automatically check for program updates" assuming this was the issue but it still happens.

    I know 10Mb isn't a lot but I've switched to a pay as you go cellnet connection and I'd really like to use those 10Mb's for information I want not what comodo wants. :rolleyes:

    Does anyone have a solution or do I switch firewalls?

    That's rather unusual. Try to reinstall it.

    I don't supposed that could be when it reads & blocks suspicious intrusion attempts, right?

    I just looked at mine...I never look at this part and says today it has blocked 14 of those.

    Hi Broni,

    This is a second hand laptop, would you suggest a visit to Malware removal?

    A few IP addresses, they seem innocuous enough...

    140.99.94.175
    216.246.40.175
    [URL="http://whois.domaintools.com[/URL] Whoops,that's mine :eek:

    I recognise the last one, it's my cellnet provider but the first two... Who is cache networks :rolleyes: and why are any of the three downloading to my computer when I'm not activly browsing :confused:

    It won't hurt, especially, if you just got that laptop.
    Normally, with used computers, I simply go for fresh install.
    Who knows, what's there.

    @WM

    Cheers, I'll dig through that but not sure if relevant, it is the firewall requesting the downloads :confused:

    @Broni

    Not recently but before now it was behind a NAT router and linux firewall so I didn't pay too much attention to security here. Now it's open to the net.

    Logs will be posted shortly to Malware removal with a link to this thread for others to peruse.

    Definately Comodo related, I've since uninstalled and went back to an old favourite (KPF 2.1.5), Perhaps Kerio is not as secure a firewall but those 10MB downloads have stopped :)

    I'd be interested in others finding with Comodo.

    Interesting.
    Btw, since I use Comodo, how did you discover those downloads?

    My PAYG Dongle has a usage monitor...

    I noticed every 20-30 mins my usage was increasing even though I wasn't activly using the interent (though obvioulsy I was connected).

    Checking comodos control panel in firewall somewhere you see active connections, it was cmdagent doing the downloads. Sorry I can't give more precise instructions but I've remove comodo and have no wish to reinstall it :)

    Currently used 14.7MB after an hours browsing and watching a 5 min football highlights video. With comodo usage would have been at least 35Mb. Comodo was using more of my connection than I was :eek:

    Broni, 6 hours connected now with around 4 hours active browsing, 39.1MB used a tenth of what I would have expected under comodo...

    I'm just annoyed now because I bought a 7GB allowance for this month (unused traffic does not carry on to next month). I'm going to struggle to use this data (methinks watching the united game delayed live on BBC ALBA can kill a few megs ;))

    Do you think I have a case for a lawsuit against comodo :D
