AVG Anti Virus

I downloaded the free edition of AVG Anti Virus & ran the program thru my files. It found 34 files infected with Kreg (?) worm & asked me if I wanted to "heal" the files. I, of course, clicked on YES.

After the "healing" process was complete, they shwed me their report stating that 24 files were healed, 10 were not. I then went back to work on my computer (this is a business computer).

I clicked on my QuickBooks icon & nothing - a box popped up statting Program Not Found look in C: as the QBW32EXE: file was missing. I looked everywhere - no file.

I clicked on Access, Excel & when I went to boot up, Windows. This AVG anti virus program deleted - completely - all the EXE files. What do I do - any ideas as the files are not quarantined in AVG nor are they anywhere on my hard drive. They are comnpletely & totally gone.

Hi BSH38
Welcome to the boards! Before we go any further.....any chance this was actually the Klez virus? If it was.... you'll want to download and run the Klez fixtool from here.

Daizy

*edit*
If I'm mistaken.....and it's not the right virus...perhaps try the EXE fix from here.

Hi again!
There's your problem on why you can't completely get rid of this virus. You're going to need to go in and disable your system restore. To Purge it....then go back in and re-enable. Run your virus scan again.....then the fixtool.

Post back if you need more explicit instructions?

Daizy
