Picking a firewall

I'm using Windows Vista Home Premium and the firewall that came with it. I was told that Comodo was the best and i tried to use it but Windows didn't recognize it as running. Comodo said that it was running and active but when I tried to turn off Windows firewall it yelled at me and told me to check my security status. Any suggestions? I would like to trust Windows firewall but can I?
