snoop / log tool

Does someone know / Is there a simple and safe freeware tool which allows to snoop / log all the inbound - outbound bytes a specific software performs to a (Ascii/Hex/...text)file. I see my cable modem is blinking once in a while, and I'm quite interested to see where it's sending stuff and what is in there.

I took a look in google, but couldn't find any such things. I thought it might be a nice feature in HijackThis, but on the other hand, I may be talking nonsens, as I'm not sure if such content will be readable / understandable.

Jus curious :-)

I believe you are looking for a packet sniffer. This google search has where you can learn info on it, and where to get one.

Super!

I'll probably find what I'm looking for now. I wasn't familiar with the terminology. I referred to snoop, because I had a small tool when I was you called snoopdos, which displayed every single command the operating system processed on the commodore amiga :-)

Thanks very much!
