My System

Need a better understanding to this vulnerability.
Two XP's / SP2 / all updates.
Secunia gives me a clean bill of health - no updates required.
BOTH XP's have IE7 installed - loaded only for monthly updates.
Do NOT have Adobe PDF Reader installed on either XP.
Have FoxIt installed for PDF reader.

Question - Are either of these XP's exposed?? ... with understanding IE7 is never loaded.

Will not be back on line until Saturday late afternoon.
Thanks

Dennis L: I found the link in my initial post at the Google | News site in the Sci/Tech section. It was among several similar stories listed at the time but aren't shown any longer. A regular Google search for "PDF venerabilities" includes these items:

http://www.osnn.net/comments.php?shownews=14180

http://www.newsfactor.com/story.xhtml?story_id=56219

http://msmvps.com/blogs/spywaresucks...4/1260487.aspx

There are others, but hopefully these will help with your immediate concerns.

Thanks BOBO
PDF vulnerability being exploited
Quote:
We don't use Adobe Reader here at the office, and maintain only a single copy of Acrobat for the occasional PDF that doesn't work with our chosen Adobe replacement, NitroPDF. I am assuming that Nitro is not affected by the vulnerability, but of course nothing is certain in this day and age. I'll check into that, and update this blog entry with any information that we receive.
The long and short, all PDF readers are suspect.
My suggestion .. frequently check updates for your favorite PDF reader and read the change log.
