My System

When you reinstalled windows have you been turning on XP's firewall? If not, do this the very first thing you do when you boot to window. Once you've turned on the firewall you should be protected. Then head for the windows update site and download all the critical updates available. One of them addresses this problem. To turn on the firewall open the control panel and then network connections and then right click on your internet connection. Click on the advanced tab and put check in the box where it says "Protect my computer and network by limiting......". When you get all settled in you might want to download one of the free firewalls available such as Zone Alarm or Kerio. They are better than XP's in the respect that they will protect you from things trying to get out of your pc as well as things trying to get in.

I should add, this is a worm that you don't have to do anything to get it. All that's necessary is for you to be connected to the internet. It finds it's way in all by itself. You're especially vulnerable if you have a connection like cable where you're always connected. Whatever you do, leave that firewall turned on.

I doubt it. I haven't heard of any variants of the worm that do. Are you turning on your firewall when you first install XP? It's a must. If not, that's why you're getting it back.
