Thumbs down Help ! **** has taken over my explorer!

Help, I'm not a regular **** sufer so I'm not sure how this happened but everytime I open explorer there is a pop-up that invites me to a **** page. The only way to remove the pop -up is to click on the only tab available (OK) which then sends me to some **** page. I have had some pop ups before but once I close them they are closed. This pesky message has somehow written code into the start up of explorer.
I've tried rebooting and even tried updating to IE 6.0 ( I was running an earlier version) but nothing has cured the problem.

Anyone with ideas, I don't think my 11 year old is interested in "fresh teens"

Thanks
KT

Two courses of action here -

First download and run Spybot and AdAware , update their reference files and then run Spybot before AdAware

If this doesn't sort the problem your browser may have been hijacked, so download and run HijackThis , run it and copy and paste the log here. Do not attempt to delete anything until you have received comments from the experts on the Board.

Hello KT,

Also read thru the links on this subject in my post here Info on Hijackers

Link to the Author of HJT on what the entries mean. As Pete wrote, do not delete anything on your own.

On safe surfing, refer to this article http://www.infinisource.com/techfiles/surf-safe.html

You might want go to this website and get this great free popup stopper called PopThis http://www.mathies.com/popthis/

When installling you can select to have it integrated right into IE (I recommend this). Then to change settings, yu just go to your IE tools menu and there it is.

I never see popups anymore. 1 or 2 might make it past every 2 0r 3 months! The program is small, but has great options eg. to enable or disable, the ability to disclude sites that you were you want to see the popups. All this right in IE tools!

Have a great day
