Hello, I have to select one of the three as my trial period is running out. The choices are Norton antivirus 2003 prof edition,
internet security, and system works 2003. This is home computer
for normal usage. Can you tell me which to select?
Thank you

Hi Big Foot!

Out of Your three choises I would choose Norton Internet Security 2003. It provides Anti Virus, Firewall and intrusion detection which the stand alone Anti Virus 2003 pro doesn´t. One really needs a firewall today ......

Norton System Works focus, in addition to Anti Virus, on computer maintenance which is a different consideration.

Regards,
Christer

By the way, before BillyBob tells You, there are other options which You might consider!

AVG for Anti-Virus.

Kerio for the Firewall.

Both are free right now for home use.

Both are 98% standalone and far less system loading.

Both are far less Windows version specific.

And both seem to do just as good a job.

I have both and am using the same file downloads in 98, 98SE and XP.

I don't use suites, especially Symantec's.

If any one part doesn't do the job or something goes wrong, it is a bear to get rid of. There is an excellent reason why they have all those removal tools for their products on their site.

Symantec is infamous for laying their stuff all over the registry and windows with the amount of resources that entails.

The AV is fine all by itself, the firewall I have no opinion on.

Regards - Charles

My System

I agree with Charles re. suites.

Kerio for firewall - I now believe it to be superior to Zone Alarm and have experienced some problems with NIS

NAV for anti virus - I've had no known problems with it, but, as BillyBob says, AVG comes highly recommended

I really thank you all for the thoughtful information and your time.
Sounds like BillyBob's might be the best road. Mr. BillyBob can you direct me to those sites? Again, thanks all.

Big Foot

I will gladly do that for you as soon as I can.

But right now my Internet usage is very limited. One minute it works and the next it don't.

But in the mean time you could try a search for AVG and Kerio.

Hoping that this does get to you.

Kerio

AVG

I hope these both work as I had to hand type the AVG.

BillyBob

PS.
I was about to give up but all seems OK now.

You are welcome.

But I do not consider it work when finding things to help others.

Or helping others find things.
