I'm away fro home using my laptop. My internet connection is wireless using the service provided by the hotel where I am staying. I can receive e-mails with no problem, and using chat sites on th internet I can send messages - as I am here. But sending e-mails seems impossible. I get an error message saying that the connection to the server was interrupted.
Looking at my Sent box ( the e-mail programme is Outlook) I see that some three months ago I used this laptop and system a lot - at a time when I had problems with my pc, but not since.
Any suggestions for solving this will be appreciated.

Are you trying to send emails through your ISP's email system? If so, more than likely they are blocking it. Most of them don't allow you to send email through their system from another domain. In other words, if you aren't using a computer that is connected to the internet through them, you can't send through them. They do this to avoid spam being sent through them. An alternative is to use an online account like Gmail or Hotmail. Or, if you want to use your normal email, use your ISP's online email (if they have it, most do) and use that to send emails.

    Hi Geoff

Click on Tools - Accounts -- and click on the mail account and then on Properties

    Then click the advanced tab.
Here you can see the server port numbers.
You need the correct numbers. You need to call your isp to get them.
I had the same problem, but now it works

    Hope this helps

I followed one of the alternatives - opened a hotmail account.
Not so much solved, as worked around.
Same result though ! Although it is a bit of a pain to have to copy stuff from my Outlook to Clipboard and then to the hotmail page, but its only for a short time, on holiday.
