Incomplete Downloads


Lately, my Dell Dimension XP has trouble with downloading software, usually hanging at 99% and /or with seconds remaining. This happens with all programs and with different sites, and it happens whether I try to open or save the download: it just doesn't complete. It's not the IE download blocker, and I have no problem with space or virtual memory. What else could be the problem? Thanks for any advice or suggestions!

Hi Renald. What version of Internet Explorer are you running? If you are running IE7 or IE8 then try this, click Start< All Programs< Accessories< System Tools< Internet Explorer (No-Addons). See if you can download some software now. If that doesn't work then click Start< Control Panel< Network and Internet Connections< Internet Options< Reset Button.

Also please enter your System Details which will help us in answering your questions.

Evan Omo's suggestion--running IE without the add-ons--worked like magic for me. I did not have to use the second suggestion--of using the reset button.

My System
Now start IE normally and go to Tools > Manage Add-ons and disable all ad-ons there. Re-enable one by one, testing in between until you find which add-on was causing the problem.
