I'm hoping someone will have an answer for this one.

For you folks who use Excite as your home page and have recently downloaded the Superchat, here is my problem.

I used to chat in VP, but as we all know, it no longer exists. Superchat is the new chat program and it's not too bad to use. My problem is that I can't seem to find my old VP name to use as my User name for chatting. There was a time in the old Excite that you could add new profiles (I think that is what they were called) to your main Excite account and then you had several names to choose from for chatting or e-mail. If I click on the link that says 'I am not xxx' and then sign in with my old chatter name/password it will then tell me that it has transferred the new data successfully. That sounds to me like they now have my old name on file and I should be able to sign in under the old chat name. You would THINK, anyway. NOT! I've tried clearing out my temp/history/cookies. I tried signing in on Excite Messanger with the old name. It doesn't like the password. I know for a fact that the name and pw is correct, as I always write these down to have a paper trail. After clearing all that stuff I would reboot. I still can't get in under the old name. I can't find anywhere on the new Excite page where I can add profiles or new names. I really don't want to open a new Excite account just to be able to chat with a different name.

Does anyone out there know what I am talking about and is there a solution to this frustrating situation? It's not like I chat all the time, but I do keep in touch with some good cyber friends I have made over the years and would prefer to use my chat name and not the name I opened the Excite account with. Needless to say, contacting Excite Help is USELESS!!!

    PLEASE HELP!!! Thanks!

    :)

If you cant even get signed in, then you wont be able to add/edit profile. I saw this at their site.

Please note that Excite has been under new management since December, 2001. If you did not come back to Excite to give us permission to migrate your account, it is no longer part of our database of users. If you are unable to sign in, and cannot retrieve your Member Name or password, you will need to register a new account.

I guess I didn't clarify the point that I am still a member of Excite and my account HAS been successfully transferred. I am patiently waiting for them to update the My Reminder section, which I dearly miss. My Excite mail is finally working, too. My husbands' stock portfolio is working. Everything is good to go. My confusion was with signing into a chat with my old VP name. If all preferences have been transferred, then why isn't my old name working? When I click on the link that says 'I am not xxx' and I type in the other profile name, it then says 'your data has been successfully transferred' and then I click back to my home page. When I try to sign into superchat with the old name and password (which is the same as signing into my home page), it won't let me. Is this clearer? I remember in the old Excite that you could create different profiles for use in chat (up to 5, I think) and then when you signed in for chat it gave you the options of the different names to choose from. Am I missing something here, or is Excite still just catching up?

Thank you for responding. I am assuming (youch!) that you work for the EMC (squared)?

    :)
