flashplayer and flash movie download

hi.

i am trying to open a swf file and have been told to download flashplayer. when i try to do this a message comes up to check that i have (flash movie) in my xtras folder. i don't, and i can't find it on the net to download it.

can anyone tell me where to find it and then if Adobe is the best place to download flashplayer please?

my computer knowledge is about 4-5 out of 10, so i understand the basics, but not too complicated stuff unless set out simply.

thank you. clare

To open a SWF file just drag it to a Web browser window.

My System

I have downloaded file which named itself wimpy_flv_player_pc from the website suggested.
Now when i try to open swf file it comes up with a message

'works cannot open "C:\Documents and Settings\Owner\My Documents\trich\trichweb.swf" . The file may be in use by another application, the file format may not be suppoeted by any of the installed converters, or the file may be corrupt.'

Does this tell you what the issue is, as i don't understand how to fix it based on this message.

Thank you.

Open the player, by double clicking on FLVplayr.exe.
When players opens, click on folder icon (lower right), find the file, you want to play.
Alternatively, right click on trichweb.swf, click "Open with", and navigate to FLVplayr.exe location.

1. open a Web browser, such as Internet Explorer.
2. resize the window so it is NOT full screen.
3. open the folder with the SWF file.
4. put cursor on top of SWF file.
5. press & hold left mouse button.
6. "drag" the SWF file into the browser window.

I dragged swf file to address bar and it says done, but I am left with a white/blank window. If I select 'use web service' to open it, the same thing happens.

Broni
when I find swf file and choose 'open with', I find FLVPlayer and double click and a black screen opens for wimpy FLV, but nothing happens. I press play, pause etc but nothing.

Are we talking here about one file, or more?

I did not say to drag it to the address bar. I said:

6. "drag" the SWF file into the browser window.

Tony.
Thanks for advising me I had done it wrong, but dragging it to the browser window is what I meant, so now I have done it both ways with the exact same effect.. although it did tell me first that this information was blocked and so I allowed blocked information, and still a white screen with the word 'done' on bottom left.
