g'day,

today i downloaded the latest messenger version as per the pop up window.

since then i cannot now access my hotmail account, i have tried the can't remember password function but as i can't access hotmail i can't see those e/m's if that is where they are going?

tried answering my secret question but after 10 years can't remember the answer.

is there any help for me please?

If you've forgotten your password, MSN Hotmail does provide at least one level of back-door that you can use to recover it - your alternate email address or secret question. If you don't have those, you're probably out of luck.

g'day arie,

that is the trap hey us older folk and our memory all to trap us hey lol?

if h/m would have suggested some time over the past decade that i update my alternate e/m addy i would have done so, but the isp i used 10 years ago would be out of business now, so yes i can see the problem. same with the secret question got no idea what my answer is.

so would you agree that ultimately i may have to un-install the update if that can be done? then put up with their little pop up window for the rest of my days i guess? if only us users could say don't tell me about updates.

what i don't understand is with all the updates i've downloaded over that decade why is it that this one did not save my settings??

many thanks

Most likely not. The information was most likely cached in a cookie that got deleted.

thanks again arie,

what i ultimately ended up doing was to restore back to the day before that problem of the download, i know have my hotmail account back just wish there was someway i could stop those annoying update pop up windows, as after this i will never do anoterh update. too risky.

many thanks take care for now.
