Internet connection drops

My home network consist of Linksys cable modem and wireless router. Cable internet provider is camcast in Tucson (dry air). I recently added a linksys phone adapter. The problem is dropped web sight connection. I am thinking there is more people using the cable service in the neighborhood than their equipment can supply. The comcast service person came to ck signal strength and said it was ok. He also said that a static charge could build up on the coax at the back of the router? I may be getting old but I thought the "signal" was on the center wire and the outer woven wire acts a a shield that is grounded at the box out by the street. Even with only one PC connected to modem only ( router, phone and TV off) I still can lose my connection. Any Ideas would be greatly appreciated. Thanks Brad

Update, must not be a common problem. Complained some more to comcast, they sent out a new tec. very nice young man who took the time to check and replace all the coax connectors from street up to wall jack. He said that brought the signal reading up in strength. I am pleased, no more dropped connection or calls. To summarize, all the houses with 20 something year old pre-wired cables running who knows where through the walls, connectors may corrode and cause line loss along the way. End of story.
