about 3-4 wks ago, my internet connection started to go in and out. most of the time i cant even connect to the internet. i called my isp, and they have run through the normal things, and even send out a new router which still has not helped. i have changed all the cords and even tried directly connecting to the modem. most of the time that i cant connect, my dsl light on my modem is out, but my isp says that all of their lines are working fine. i called my phone company and there are no problems on their end. Any suggestions?

I am running vista with norton security and firewall. no virus/spyware. I have been using the internet fine for the last 2 years with same ISP.

sometimes firewalls can cause the internet to go in and out.

I am not an expert in vista though.

Well, that indicates the problem. If your DSL line indicator is out, your modem is not receiving a DSL signal. If your ISP doesn't/can't solve it, get a new ISP.
