My System

What is this embedded thing in replies to my email.

When I email my son at his office and he replies, I always get the attached BMP showing within the email. This only happens with his replies to me and has only started to happen in the last couple of weeks. I also believe that something changed in his email program as I never used to get return receipts from him and now I get return receipts (which I have always requested)

I do not believe it is coming from me, but from him. This is only happens with replies from his email and nobody else's replies. I use Outlook 2000 and his office (a law firm) uses Lotus notes . When I look at my email via web mail, the picture shows up as an attached GIF, but when I receive it on my PC it shows up in position I show below.
It looks like a world with a smiley face and a tongue sticking out.

My son insists it is from my PC and thinks I am a little nuts.

My PC is well protected from viruses, adware etc. and I do not believe it comes from me. As this is his law email address, I am concerned about what it is even tho he is not and should be.

The layout of the message follows here in Italics. Any comments, suggestions would be appreciated. Has anyone seen this before, is it a joke or what?

Scanning of the email shows no viruses/problems.
Thanks, Jorjab

Hi jorjab
I don't believe this is a malware problem.
I'm moving your thread here to the General Internet forum.

I believe you will receive better answers here.

It looks like part of a "signature."
Ask your son if he has a picture/image in his signature.

Geri,
Thanks for moving was not sure where to post.

Steve,
not part of his signature and only see this when he replies to me - never in any of his other emails.

Outlook options:

Signature for new mail messages
Signature for replies and forwards

Need to get him to check and make sure he sees <none>

What email server are you sending from?

What email server are you sending from? or what program are you using to send and receive emails?

This might be the signatures on the emails or maybe just the previous email shown as an attachment. That usually happens in Outlook Express
