Error 777

    I have Windows XP on my computer, and I have dial up internet service with a 56K modem. Sometmes when I click on my internet icon a screen comes up stating "Error 777 - The connection attempt failed because the modem (or other connecting device) on the remote computer is out of order ". Can anyone tell me why I am getting this screen and what I can do to avoid it. Thank you. abm
