Internet Problems... Please Advise

Hi there, thanks for taking time and interest in reading this.

My computer is on Windows XP SP2. I have downloaded all security updates. My internet connection is DSL with Tiscali. I encounter no problems when browsing the web with IE6, and programs such as MSN Messenger and other software like my AntiVirus updates etc all work with the internet fine however other programs don't which now brings us to my problem.

The one I have most difficulty with is Betfair poker. It's a poker client that firstly detects your internet connection quality and mine appears strong. It then attempts to connect to there servers which is where it 99.9% of the time fails. Firstly I assumed it was a server problem with them but I try it on a different computer at a friends house, works fine. I've phoned them up to check the server status and no problems have been reported... this has now lasted two weeks.

I decided to try another client called Titan poker. I again have the same problem where I can't connect to there servers.

I have no firewall other than the Windows firewall which i've disabled, and then i've tried it enabled but allowing betfair as an exception.

I sometimes have a problem with the windows firewall where I get the error message "Due to an unidentified problem your firewall settings can't be displayed" Usually this is fixed by adding sharedaccess to the registry and then running command NETSH FIREWALL RESTART/RESET (can't remember which).

The other 0.1% of the time I can connect for about 30minutes and then I loose the connection. I've tried everything I can think of. Removing software and reinstalling, I've removed other programs, i've run spyware and antivirus and also windows updates. If anyone could help me i'd be more than greatful..

Thanks for your time!!
