WIN XP certain websites won't load with any browser

Ok, I'm asking this question in the Win XP forum since it seems that the problem is actually with Windows rather than IE, Firefox, Opera, etc. For the last several months 1 single website has been giving me problems on my machine under Win XP Pro Service pack 2.....Slashdot.org. Slashdot will try to load for several minutes and eventually do so without any images except for the ocassional ad. I really don't know what to try here. The site works fine on the same machine under Linux when I switch over. Any suggestions? I just need some help troubleshooting this.

BLWedge09 - Welcome to the Board

Read through this thread - a similar problem which appeared to be caused by the firewall settings in use....

Missing Pictures in Favourite web site [in Internet Explorer & Firefox]

BTW - The site opens OK on my computer.

Thanks. I changed everything I could think of with my old firewall thinking that this may have been the problem but had no luck. I finally decided after reading that thread to just try a different firewall. I switched to the Free Comodo Personal Firewall which I have seen get good reviews and it cleared the problem up.

BTW, thanks for the welcome.

BLWedge09--Pleased to hear the problem is solved.
It may not be too important now, but you should run only one Firewall. If you run WinXP SP2, Windows Firewall is on by default. (It was installed in SP1, but not turned on unless you did it manually.) So, if you install a third party firewall, it can conflict with Windows Firewall. Perhaps Comodo can coexist with WF better than others, but if you continue to use Comodo, it may be best to check if Windows Firewall is turned off. Control Panel|Windows Firewall.

Thanks for the advice but the Windows firewall is turned off. I always opt to use a third party firewall in its place.
