If any of you out there are still stuck in dial up land and use AOL 9.0 optimized . here is a neat little trick that will make loging on 1 step quicker . Aol techs will tell you that you can not logon after clicking the AOL icon on your desktop ( without also clicking the sign on button ) But if your like me and want to just ckick --go get a cup of coffee , come back and its up and running -----try this . Find your America Online folder the scroll down until you find one of the AOL link buttons ( I used the 1 that said AOL Search ) .
It looks ike the logon icon , but functions differently. Any way ---place a shortcut of that on your desktop . Then right click on it and select properties. This opens the window that tells where the path of the target is .
Un highlight the path and scroll back a bit . Note: the whole path looks like this ----"C:\Program Files\America Online 9.0\aol.exe"/SAOLSearch . This Will bypass you having to also click the sign on button , but once loaded , it will bring up AOL's search page. I solved that by siply removing the word search from the last part of the path and clicking apply on the properties box . Now your AOL wil START, SIGN IN , AND LOGON for you with 1 click . And if ya want go in and change the icon so it looks just like the regular AOL icon instead of the Square AOL search icon . Hope this helps some of you a little .
