After downloading MSN Messenger 6.3. When I open Outlook Exp. 6
MSN Messenger trys to load and then causes the error listed.
MSN Messenger runs ok from the decktop help
To try the simplest thing first: In Outlook Express, go to Tools>Options>General tab and if the option, "Automatically log on to...." is checked, click on it to uncheck it, click OK to save the change.
Do you still get the error if Messenger is already running when you open OE?
Conversely, do you get the error if Messenger isn't already running when you open OE?
Just found this to try (if you're comfortable editing the registry): "Disable Messenger and Speedup Outlook Express
There are various ways of disabling Windows Messenger from automatically starting, but they all have some drawbacks. Until now. Namely, if you disable Messenger, OE takes forever to load if you have the Contacts pane enabled.
Go to: Start/Run/Regedit and navigate to this key:
Add a New, DWord value called Hide Messenger and set the value to 2.
(This step is required to prevent a long delay when opening OE with the Contacts pane enabled)." (Source) (about 2/3 down the page)
I don't get the error if messenger is already running and i start OE. I only get the error if messenger isen't running. I have try the registry edit yet i will wait for your reply thanks
Well, I've about exhausted my knowledge of Messenger since I don't use it.
If I or anybody else knows or finds a solution, it'll be posted but meanwhile I guess the workaround is to make sure Messenger's running before you open OE so you can at least use OE.
