I want to make notes with Credit Card details etc but how do I go about protecting that information with a password?

Is placing secure info in Notes a good idea anyway? Is there a better place I can enter these types of details?

2nd question - How do I get rid of the Splash Screen for MS Outlook 2002 when it starts?

    Appreciate any help

    Jetheat ;)

There isn't any password protection in Outlook as far as I know. I wouldn't leave the info on the pc anyway. You've heard all the news about Identity Theft haven't you?

In Outlook 2000, and 2002 may be the same, you can password the Personal Folders file only. Passwording that folder will mean that none of the other folders within it can be accessed without the password.

To enter a password for the Personal Folders file:
    1. Open Outlook
    2. Right click on the Personal Folders file
    3. Go to Properties
    4. Click the Advanced button on the General Tab
    4. Click on the Change Password button.

You can, if you like, make a new Personal Folders file, password it and keep private data within it, leaving the original Personal Folders file without a password.

I've never found a way to get rid of the splash screen for either Outlook or Outlook Express. On the other hand, I've never really looked very hard. A Google search for "disable Outlook splash screen" is probably the place to start.

I can't find the personal folder anywhere! This is MS Outlook 2002 though.

    Hi Jetheat

This appears to be a small file. Do not know how important accessibility may be... if not... create a plain text file and input your info. Copy it to a floppy, CD or both. You can also encrypt (many free ones available) for further security. Delete the file from your computer. Stash floppy/CD.

Oops...you must be using the "Outlook Today" pane...which I don't use so I forget it's the default.

To see all the folders in Outlook, which includes the Personal Folders entry, go to View and click on "Folder List. "

From there you can manipulate the folders. However, it's not as easy as I thought to create a new "Personal Folder "...it can be done but I think Dennis L's idea is much better...and a lot simpler.
