I don't know if anyone's heard of this, but it seems there's a problem in AOL Instant Messenger for the Internet that allows a hacker to come in and take over your computer if you're signed on. I heard the only fix now is to limit who can send you messages. I have my thing set so only people on my buddy list can IM me. Has anyone heard anything about this? I wonder if AOL will offer a patch or if we'll simply have to wait for the next version to come out.

In addition to the server side patch the client side fix is the same as the fix for several less publicized AIM problems found in the past year.
In privacy settings allow messages only from buddies list and be careful with who you add to your list.
