In outlook 2002:
Click on tools / options / Preferences Tab / E Mail Options Button / Advanced E Mail Options Button / and make sure the "Play a Sound Box is checked off"

Also in Control Panel / Sounds / under Windows Sounds / Make sure Incomming Mail has a sound file associated with it.

It IS checked, But it plays the default sound by windows. I have a file where Letterman says I have mail. I want it to play that one. I have done everything I can to point outlook to the file.

Greetings RoadRunner - to my knowledge you go back to Control Panel - Sounds, Speech, and Audio Devices - Change the sound scheme - under Programs - scroll down till you reach New Mail Notifcation - then browse to your Letterman file - you can test it by hitting the play button on the bottom left-hand side - then hit Apply then OK.
Send test email.

Cheers!

Paddy
