Which OS, opinions please.

I just bought a new Dell Vostro 420 a couple of months ago (I've had great luck with Dell). The computer came with Vista Business SP1, but I opted for the XP Pro SP3 install and Dell installed it on the computer.

Anyway, I just recieved the Windows 7 Professional disk yesterday from Dell for my computer. I am happy with XP Pro, should I upgrade? If so why?

My favorite thought of the month:

"When you can list ten reasons why Windows 7 will improve your day to day life - then you'll be ready to upgrade."

If you're in the IT business and looking for work - then maybe adding the ability to work well with Win 7 might help

Also - you basically can't upgrade from XP to 7...You have to do a custom/full clean install and will have to re-install all of your applications.

Hey Ranger!

The main reason I switched to W7 was that most of the new residential computers that are going to start to filter through work for repair will be W7.

Having said that it's a brilliant OS and I have not experienced a problem yet with it!

The school district I work for (I'm a High School Math Teacher), does not plan to upgrade from XP for a couple more years. The tech guys are taking a wait and see approach with Windows 7.

However, I will be testing for my Computer Apps certification this summer. If I teach a computer apps class, I need to be as familiar as possible with the latest software. That includes Windows 7. Reading about Windows 7 is not the same as using it.

I thank both of you for responding.
