Have had my Toshiba Satellite L350 laptop for a few months now and still haven't figured out some of the icons on the front. And buttons. And slots. LOL. My books don't tell me what they are and I can't seem to find any info on it on the net. You know, pictures with directions. Hope someone can help me here.

These symbols have little lights next to them lit up. I know what the PLUG symbol is. The ROUND CIRCLE with a line up top is the power light. The BATTERY symbol is obvious. The next one looks like a CANISTER and blinks when the laptop is on. What is that? The last symbol looks like a SHEET OF PAPER with a corner bent over. What is this? I feel like I should know these!

Below all this is a button that goes left or right and says OFF and ON with the WIRELESS symbol lit up in yellow. Assume this needs to be left in the ON position in order for the wireless to work? (bear with me here...) To the right of that is a slot with symbols I can't read. It looks like it fits a flash card for a digital camera. Correct? Further to the right are two holes with a MICROPHONE and EARPLUG symbols. Got those. What is the WHEEL that looks like a volume control? What volume does it control if it is a volume control wheel? I turn it and nothing happens.

I feel like an idiot because I've had this for a few months but never checked it out properly. So. Help......?????

    Thanks!
    :)

    Hi Panda,

The Toshiba Satellite L350 is a series of Laptops not a particular model, this may not make a difference to your particular question but can you look underneath and post the actual model number (eg L350-ST3702)?

Hi Panda...While waiting for you to reply to wildfire's question I can tell you the following...
That is the Hard Disk light

Yes...that is the on/off for wireless

That's the Bridge media On/off light adapter slot light

I believe that control wheel is the volume control when you have a headset plugged in.

Here is a user guide for the L350 series...Page 98 Mobile Computing gives info on sysmbols...

That was a big help! It was exactly what I needed. A picture and description of the icons. I'm supposed to have a manual on the laptop but didn't think to look there thinking it was exactly like the booklet which doesn't show pictures of what I needed to know. That link is perfect!

    Thanks for the help.

    :)
