Looking around again

I was looking around ( getting bored again and need something to mess with LOL )agian and found that in the Root Folder of my C: drive I have files dating from 5/11/1998 ( IO.SYS ) to 2/25/2007 ( pagefile.sys )
It also appears that the C:\Windows Folder was created/modified on 1/8/2003
So am I correct in my thinking that this C: drive goes way back to at least the days of at least Win98 ? ( My money is on at least 95 but I can not be real sure about that. )
Another thing that got me into doing some checking is because a family member stood firm on the fact that one OS could not be put over top of the other.
In case anyone wonders how I find these thing. I use PowerDesk Pro.

BillyBob

PS.
If you wish me to keep this stuff off of here just say so and I will quit.

I can't imagine anyone having an objection to you posting things you have found and want to share or are looking to learn about. It's what this forum and most like are based on. Community involvement.

As long as the questions asked and info provided for others to read is on target and within community guidelines, post away.

More than likely - the created date is the date on which the file/folder was loaded to the drive. The majority of my Windows files have a creation date of 08/04/2006 (April) which is the date on which I made a repair install following a mobo/CPU upgrade. A few data folders which were originally created eons ago also have the same creation date.

Another thing I was just thinking about is that the HD in this machine is at least on its 2nd ( if not 3rd ) machine.
The last machine that it was in died ( MB went bad ) so I just put the HD into a new one.
BUT !! I DID NOT boot it directly the HD the first time. I booted to a floppy and re-ran Windows setup. ( from a DOS Floppy bootup ) I made an error in judgement about a reinstall years ago and booted from the HD. I HOPE I never do that again.
I had many say that it could not be done. So I just figured that at 65+ years old and nuttin to do so what did I have to lose. I still had another machine to use.
Plus that, being sort of physicaly limited it helps BIG TIME to keep my mind active.
If I only had one machine I would not even begin to attempt some of the DANGEROUS to machine health stuff that I do ( did ).
I do not like to admit it but I am going have to quit. But again over the years I have learned as much ( if not more ) by DOING than anything.

Just got reminded that I have to go get some meds and a hair cut. THe hirscut I can live withut. But the Meds I can't

I would not dare

I would not dare try to do something such as build something like this now. But I sure had fun when I could. And I was self-taught.

My System

You've done well BB! We can all learn some valuable lessons about life from you. I have a feeling you know what is really important and have managed to live through the rest of it.

I'm a little older than you so let me give you some unsolicited advice that has worked for me:

Smile more and talk less.

I think that may be the secret of life so be careful who you share it with, some may take it wrong.

ps. Nice site you made there!
