Trying to find proper forum. Saw extensive discussion on Thread posted by Jefe54. Seems worth while to try this forum. My system: Dell dimension 3000. Plenty of memory and unused space on hard drive. Regular defrag. McAfee 2007 suite. Spybot search and destroy. Windows XP with SP 1 and 2. OE6. IE7. Outlook suite 2003 (which I almost never use). Machine opens and closes well. HP printer works ok at the moment. Note, Jefe54 and those helping are far more sophisticated than I. If any of you care to reply, it needs to be in simple language and suggestions. Problems:
    1) Copying or moving highlighted material, with ctrl +C or X. Just wont work. Nothing happens. When I try ctrl +V to follow, there appears on proposed site where copied matter is to go something from weeks ago.
    2) Mouse jumps all over. When I tried to set pointer in first bar above, Title, commencing with placing it on the right side of the window, and moving up or down, the pointer races all over the place independent of my efforts. If I move it in to the middle of the window, the displayed matter scrolls up and down on its own. To get results I must click anywhere in the window and then painstakingly move pointer.
    3) Sometimes what I am typing stops appearing on screen even though I continue to type, and then after half a minute or more it all appears. This happens more if I pause typing, to think about what should be put down next.
    4) Two identical actions in a row, i. e., typing in ee or 99, or using key such as the arrows on the lower right keyboard, or backspace, or whatever, the second does not work or appear unles (lok at these words) I pause for a couple of seconds.
    5) Deleting. Highlight something to take it out. Highlights ok, but then neither delete nor backspace work. However if it is possible to place pointer correctly, then ctrl + either delete or backspace will take out one word at a time, either to right or left, respectively. But only if there is nothing highlighted.
    6) Going to a URL from another document or from an Internet connection. The kind that is in blue and underlined. Nothing happens when I click on it. But if I open my IE7, then usually a second window in the same program appears and then what I clicked on. The first window remains unused.
    7) To the best of my knowledge neither Spybot nor McAfee have detected anything seriously wrong. They green everything.
If you feel some of this should be posted on another forum just say so. If you can help, happy to listen.

    Hi ALK,

    I'll address the IE7 issue.

What you're seeing is tabbed browsing. Clicking on the link opens another page and keeps the original one open for you to go back to.

    If you don't want this:

IE7's tool bar (under the "wheel" symbol in the upper right) > Internet Options > Advanced tab > scroll down to "Reuse windows for launching short cuts" and check.

The other issues you post are KB and mouse issues and should be addressed in the Hardware section.

    Regards - Charles
