I was given an old Dell Latitude CPi computer with I think the Windows XP as the OS. I am not computer savy, and have attempted to clean it up so it will run faster, as it is real slow and I can't seem to build internet connection that will stay connected. I have changed so many settings since I first got it and don't know how to get it back to the original shape to start over.....remember I don't have any sort of discs available to me. Is there a magic button to push to reset it. I use to be able to get to the internet (using dial up, and would like to use this as my second computer. Each time I get the connection built, and go onto the IE, it disconnects me, states page cannot be displayed, or a window flashes telling me Windows Installer is being installed....why is this starting to pop up......help

Hello Granny and welcome to the Board,
First, without an OS disc or any type of restoration discs, no magic reset I'm afraid.
What you can do is to use System Restore and create manual restore points before making settings changes. For a how to, Start menu > Help & Support and in the search box, type System Restore.
On the internet disconnect problem, start by turning Windows Update off and see if that alleviates the problem. If it does, we have a starting point. Again, search Help & Support - Windows Update.
Same with auto updating by your Anti Virus, trun it off. That I can't tell how w/o knowing what brand it is.
Click on My Computer and in the left Panel, click "view system information". Does it mention Service Pack 2?
