Has anyone tried the Pale Moon browser? It's supposed to work off of Firefox and be 25% faster.

It is, still, at the 3.6.3 level.
It took default from Firefox without asking any question. I did not see anything about default. It started using a Firefox profile not in use, again no question asked.
It took nearly 118MB before it showed up, while Firefox was taking 68MB. It is a real slowpoke in starting. Although there is a palemoon.exe, it is the same as firefox.exe, so Pale Moon cannot be run side by side with Firefox. I will do some testing, but it does not seem to be worthwhile. 25% faster under what conditions? And, what does
    mean?

I tried it too and didn't notice any difference. I thought it was just my computer. I guess advertisements can claim anything.

I a reply from the developer:
Also, he seems to understand that I am sharing one profile between Pale Moon and Firefox, although I, more than once, said that each one uses a different profile.

Okay, now I'm confused. How would I create another profile and not use the firefox database? My firefox has add-on's and I don't know how to create a separate profile just for Pale Moon with no add-on's. If I create another profile just for Pale Moon, would it affect my add-on's with Firefox? I love my firefox. I don't touch IE8 at all.
(running a Dell 6000 Inspiron laptop with a 250g HD and 2g DDR2 RAM, windows 7 home (does run faster then XP).

Since I have used a number of Firefox versions, I had to create profiles. I don't know if Ramona's pages are still available, but, basically, one invokes the profile manager, instead of letting the program start. In my case, Pale Moon picked up a profile which I had not been using, but decided to modify the Target (right click on shortcut|Properties|Target). The existing Target for Pale Moon is: "C:\Program Files\Pale Moon project\palemoon.exe ". I modify it by adding a -p, with key board space in front of the dash, so that it will become: "C:\Program Files\Pale Moon project\palemoon.exe" -p. If you click on the shortcut, you will bring up the Profile Manager, and create a new profile, in a location of its own. You can call it "Palemoon ", if you don't have any other profile. After creating a new profile, modify, again, the Target to let's say: "C:\Program Files\Pale Moon project\palemoon.exe" -p Palemoon (again with a keyboard space after the p, and before the name. Do not forget to click on Apply|Ok after making the changes. Now, when you start Pale Moon, it will start with the newly created profile.
It would be interesting to see how much memory is used by Pale Moon, using a bare bones profile. If you wish, yo can, always import bookmarks, and passwords, as well as add a few addons.
In my case, I have removed some of the existing addons in the Pale Moon profile, so that it has the same addons as Firefox, minus two. Although the developer told me that problems ensue when extra addons exist, I found that it was not the case with me. As much as 40% more memory was used by Pale Moon, that FF3.6.6. I found out that the type of Tabs matter. I use the complex bbcamerica.com site in Pale Moon, while I use a simple site in Firefox3.6.6. However, with the 3.5.11 nightly, its profile is almost identical as Pale Moon's, and the memory usage is the same as Pale Moon's.
palemoon.exe is the same as firefox.exe, and it is imperative to use the Profile Manager switch to avoid problems. But, in my hands, there is no reason to use Pale Moon.
And, finally, there is no issue with addons, if created for the individual profiles, and you have the Profile Manager switch.

Thanks Westside for all your help and research. I agree with you, no need to use Pale Moon as Firefox 2.6.6 is working fine.

Don't expect that Pale Moon will outdo FF3.6.6. And, even if FF is a problem, you could make it work better by uninstalling any number of addons, and not use Tabs when starting.
