    Can anyone help...

I Have an IBM thinkpad model R40 and am running windows XP SP3.

I have installed SMC USB wireless adaptor SMC2862W-G with the intention of running wirelessly within my home environment.

It seems that the new SMC software drivers I have downloaded work and I am able to see out-going and in-coming data on the Wireless Network Connection box.

However when I load up Firefox latest version it will not connect to the internet. It appears the adaptor is connecting to my wireless router but their is no connection to Firefox server or any other servers within the Firefox browser.

I think I am part way there but am a little stumped as to what to try next.

What firewall are you using and did you allow Firefox outbound permission?

    Try this...

In the lower right hand section of your task bar locate and right click on the red shield (it has a white X on it). Click on the pop-up Open Security Center.
    Windows Firewall should be on.
At the bottom of the pg click on Windows Firewall. On the pop-up menu click the Exceptions Tab, then click Add Program and follow the directions.
    You should now be fine.

    Glad you're through that one.
You probably want to mark this thread "Resolved ".
See the blue "Thread Tools" box at the top of the thread.
    Take care.
