    Hi all,

I'm working with Win7 and installed SeaMonkey. On my XP system I had the Mozilla folder (mail, bookmarks, etc.) on my "D" partition, as well as SM itself (separate folder).

However, now I've installed SM in the default "Program Files ". I've copied my Mozilla folder and now I just need to know where I should paste it?

    Hi all,

I'm not liking Win7 so far. I finally found the one Mozilla folder I wanted out of 6 listings in Explorer; and I had to do it manually. I searched for *.html which after a 10 minute search turned up nothing. I searched for *.slt and, again after a long wait, no results.

So far, Windows 3.11 is looking pretty good compared to W7.

I am looking forward to Win7, hoping to avoid Vista altogether.
You, probably know that WinXP profiles are in hidden folders, although you can create folders which are not hidden, and, in other partitions, if you wish.
I am using WinXP, and I can unhide hidden folders, and then a search would turn up what you wish. However,if you had a Mozilla folder in another partition, in XP, why not create another folder in Win7, and paste the Seamonkey/Mozilla info, there.
I have a Mozprofiles folder for my Seamonkey, in XP, same partition as the program files.
I edit the Proprties|Target line, to make sure than Seamonkey finds it. I named the profile SM1.1.4, and the Target line looks like this: "C:\Program Files\mozilla.org\SeaMonkey\seamonkey.exe" -p SM1.1.4

    Hi Westside,

If you have a spare HDD, DL and install Win7 on it. There's definitely a learning curve, especially since you've been using XP. And, although I know W7 is just a release candidate, so far it seems counter intuitive compared to XP. Plus, some of the bugs in XP MS was kind enough to include with W7! For instance, when you'd open regedit then close out, next time you went to regedit, it'd open to the last place you were instead of a clean pane. Luckily, a little app called "regopen.vbs" works with W7. And that's just one of the 20+ P.I.T.A.'s I've found so far.

They've added "Search" to the right-click menu, which is nice, but it's sorely lacking at this point. It couldn't find the .slt folder even when I was "in" the Mozilla\Profiles folder!

As far as hidden folders goes, there's a "lock-out" with W7 and, for instance, there's a lot of redundancy in where files and folders are placed.

But, like I said, this is just a RC and, hopefully, MS will listen to the feedback like they didn't with XP.

My XP has this path (which I don't use) for Seamonkey, in Documents & Settings|username|App.Data|Mozilla|Seamonkey|Profiles|xxxx.slt. A Mozilla.org folder cound, also, hold your .slt folder. I have no idea where the hidden folders are in Win7.

    Hi Westside,

Thanks for the link. That's one of the first things I did because I don't want anything hidden from me on my computer. And, the interface is pretty much like XP's.

They're not really hidden, per se, it's just that in W7 the Mozilla and Mozilla.org folders are in more places than XP.

Like I said, MS really needs to release a hotfix for Search. You can be in the folder and search for a file or extension you're looking at and it won't find it "” after 5 minutes or more.

    Greetings,

The easiest way (IMHO) to determine the location of the "mail" files - please try the following:
    1. Create an email account in SM.
    2. In left hand panel, select the "inbox" folder.
    3. Right click and select "Copy Folder Location "
    4. Paste into Notepad doc.
    You should get something like:
    mailbox:/C|/Documents and Settings/user/Application Data/Mnk_10b/Profiles/jim_1.0_final/6mda5jvd.slt/Mail/mail.mchsi.com/Inbox

This will give the Pathe to the Mail files for that account.

Your results may differ from mine, as I have the profiles in other than "default "location.......

    Seems to work for me.

    regards:captjlddaavis
