Release Notes for Firefox 3.0.11 (and download link)

    Alternate Download Sites:

I'm really happy about the new SQLite version. Hopefully, those annoying WinPatrol popup "warnings" will stop. :)

EDIT: I just got another WinPatrol "New Program Alert" apparently due to SQLite (after I had updated to Firefox 3.0.11). Oh well. I'll put up with it awhile longer I guess. :-/

I got the update via incremental (2.1 Mb) from Help|Check for updates.
    I never ger WinPatrol popups.

    Hmmmm...OK

    Thanks, Westside.

Next time I get one of those alerts from WinPatrol, I'll start a new thread and post details of the issue and about my computer's operating system so maybe we can get to the bottom of this.

I hate to think I may have malware causing the popups. My scans have not been producing any surprising results anyway (although I did finally uninstall Spy Sweeper since it grew incredibly slow at scanning...perhaps due to a conflict with other resident anti-malware software).

Anyway, thanks again for your (lack of) observations about WinPatrol.

Westside, instead of starting a new thread about these Firefox/SQLite>WinPatrol alerts, I discovered a related existing thread and added to that. :)

I had no idea what WinPatrol was, and a search is telling me that it is supposed to be a security program.
As for the file in question, I confirm that Firefox creates it. It cannot be opened when Firefox is open, and it is deleted as soon as Firefox is closed. But, I don't see any connection between the popup and the file.

Firefox 3.0.11 still has RIDICULOUS memory usage issues. And FWIW, I am not an IE-fanboy, in fact moreso in the other direction if anything.

I have one window open, a very small feature-limited window that is a "Pop-Out Playlist" from www.Playlist.com.

Firefox at this point is using 115.54MB of RAM. This is unacceptable. I have disable various settings via About:Config mentioned in the MozillaZine article about excessive memory usage (this shouldn't be necessary, BTW), as well as disabled ALL AddOns and Plugins, save only Shockwave Flash.

This is a brand new, fresh install of Firefox on this PC, and the newest version of Flash.

Simply incredible. What exactly are the programmers doing to fail so badly at resource management after this many years?
