I have a My Yahoo page which I have been slowly customising over several years. I have a stream-feed from the BBC of Mervyn Bragg's radio programme In Our Time. I can listen to this on Firefox 3, Safari 3, Opera 9.63 & IE 7. Why won't it run in SeaMonkey? I get a white page (tab) with the title but the QuickTime player is conspicuous by its absence. I really don't know why this is so, can someone please enlighten me?

Is this Yahoo Page you speak of a personal web page or is it a web site page reachable by the public.
SeaMonkey happens to be my long time Browser of choice and if your page is open to the public I will visit it with my SeaMonkey to see the results I get and what I might learn and have to offer relative to your problem.
For what it's worth, I will tell you that I have a MP3 sound file on my own web site page at www.raysmyth.net and it will not play and locks things up if I try using a ZIP copy of SeaMonkey but, all is well and will play using the install version of SeaMonkey. I've never tried to determine WHY!
Cheers, Ray

Also, does Seamonkey have any npqtplugin (1-7).dll files in its Plugin folder.
If not it may be sufficient to reinstall Quicktime, or copy the files from Quicktime|Plugins, and paste them in the Plugins folder of Seamonkey.
I have only Firefox and IE, in this computer, and I know that Firefox handles files differently, not requiring the .dll files in its plugins folder. I don't use IE, so I am not sure. If Seamonkey was installed after Quicktime, it would not have the .dll files.

Sorry, but the page is password protected. There must be similar things on the normal 'My Yahoo' generic page you can get with Yahoo though, if you want to try that. Sometimes the page won't load properly either. It looks fine but the little monkey is bubbling away! I think it must be a Vista thing. I am thinking of getting Ubuntu next. They say SeaMonkey runs really well on that. Cheers anyway.

The plug-in files all seem to be there: QuickTime Plug-in 7.5.5 File name: npqtplugin6.dll, as far as I can see anyway. QT was installed before SeaMonkey. Maybe I will have to re-install QuickTime...
2. Enter the config:editor (about:config) in the location bar.
3. Filter on:
"plugin.expose_full_path" ..without quotes
set to = "true" without quotes....
This will expose the FULL path in "about:plugins"
As far as I can tell, SM will look for the correct plugin in the "plugins" folder in the instllation location and if found it will use it, If not found it will then look in the QT installation directory.
Set in "all.js"
Quote:
// Locate plugins by scanning the Quicktime installation directory with a minimum version
pref("plugin.scan.Quicktime", "5.0");

"plugin.expose_full_path" ..without quotes

This will expose the FULL path in "aboutlugins"

OK thanks, I am going to have to look at this a bit more closely.
And, if worse comes to worse reinstalling Quicktime should do the job.
If only

is present, it will help only video files. There are seven such files in my system.
I checked the BBC Radio4 site, and found out that it uses an embedded player (iplayer) which requires Real Player or Flash, depending on the program. You desired program requires Real Player, and not Quicktime.
In any event you would need npqtplugin3, 4, or 5.dll to listen to audio.
If you say that Quicktime is needed, please give a link.

These are the QuickTime plug-ins 'About Plug-Ins'. I may have to just re-install QuickTime although to be honest I can listen to the podcast in Firefox or Opera.

Please, look at my previous post, which I corrected. The main point is that Quicktime is not used to listen to the program which you listed.
Erm...OK, I am referring to the Melvyn Bragg 'Darwin In Our Time' series this week. The normal 'In Our Time' is every Thursday on Radio 4 (there are two versions of it on the radio the early one is 45 mins & the later repeat is 30 mins). I have a stream feed to my 'My Yahoo' This normally saves for a week before being replaced. I can listen to it in QuickTime in Firefox, Safari, Opera, & IE7. I am at a loss to understand what has happened with SeaMonkey. I think this may very well be a Vista thing.
