For what it's worth - Mystery Solved,

Although I could not find the original thread, a few Moons back I posted a thread about the fact I had two different version of Seamonkey installed but, only the older version would load regardless of the desktop icon I clicked on.

In other words I had say version 1.1.7 installed and updated to version 1.1.8 and had both version installed in separate folders and had 2 desktop icons for Seamonkey with each pointed to the correct folder.

It made no difference which Icon I clicked on the old version of say 1.1.7 kept loading.

As I recall, we never could figure out why this was happening but, to correct it, I removed all SM versions and then re-installed just the latest version and went on down the road.

Well today, I updated from SM-1.1.9 to 1.1.12 and decided to install the ZIP version into a new and separate folder and also used a new profile so I could look this new version over prior to switching to my current profile and mail setup.

Then there it was again, I could click on the desktop Icon I had created for the new SM-1.1.12 version and it was loading the current old version 1.1.9

Well low and behold, in my fumbling around and head scratching, It occurred to me that the 1.1.9 version was using the "Quick Launch Mode" which keeps part of Seamonkey in memory.

I disabled the Quick Launch and bingo all is as it should be.

Unless others have a different explanation, I will assume the load code is programmed such that when the 1.1.12 version starts to load it picks up the Seamonkey coding in memory i.e. the "Quick Launch" and loads the 1.1.9 version.

Mystery Solved I think ---- At least we know the cause and the cure

    Ray,

Kudos for nailing down the cause of your problem! Holy cow, Quick Launch didn't occur to me, since I have always discouraged its use. You must be delighted to be able to run multiple version of SM again!

Well, YES -- As you know I am not one to jump on the latest and so called greatest new version because I've always been one who believed if it ain't broke don't fix it.

So, it is nice to leave the old version in normal use while trying out a new version.

Frankly, it has been my experiences that after about the 3rd revision the programmers start screwing up a good program by adding whistles and bells very few of us need or care to use.

The program then becomes a cluttered, slow, lousy, irritable program.

    My View Point Only

Again Welcome Back - Hope your on the mend and feeling well.

I have no evidence that SM1.x has been changed, other than for the security updates.
