Netscape Email Account

I had some sort of spyware get into my computer which ended up requiring me to recreate my Netscape email accounts within my Netscape browser. I created a dupicate account to my old account (with a slightly different name to be able to save the newly created account). The problem occured when I forgot to copy the files over from the old account and hit the remove account button under the Mail and Newsgroup Account Setting screen. Does anyone know how I can restore the deleted account which has over two years of business email in the sent folder and some current emails in the inbox folder?

P.S. as luck would have it the backup I made just last night did not include the Mozilla folder.

1. Remove is not necessary, but you need to have Account|Server Settings|Local Directory point to the correct account.
2.The account folders are hidden, by default. It is not clear that you know this.
A backup program would not backup hidden folders (mine doesn't, and I have to copy the folders out in the open).
3. The files of the account are not deleted. The are still on the hard drive. So, if your account was, originally, of the type: username@isp.net, a second account would be username1@isp.net-1 actuallyop.isp.net, and pop@isp.net-1. Please refer to this:link

Westside you may have something here

Westside,

I did find a -1 file on my disk in the Netscape user mail folder. How can I access this folder and see if I can recover any of my messages?

You should still have the folder without the -1, right? If I did not make it clear, you should first make sure that your Local Directory points to the old account path. Probably when you open mail with the old account you will download any new mail, but if you are not sure about this, you can rename the Inbox file of the -1 account, to let's say:Inbox-1, and copy that file, and then paste it into the old account (i.e. without the -1). When you reopen NS, you will see an old Inbox folder, and the newly entered Inbox-1. If it just has duplicates of the newly downloaded mail in Inbox, you can delete Inbox-1.

Westside,

Thank you for the help. I was able to untangle the mess I had and recovered my emails. I have taken the opportunity to do a little house cleaning besides, so if something happens in the future, I will have an easier time telling whats what.

I am glad to hear that you are back on track. My rules for mail are:
1.Don't use the default folders for storage. It makes my life more difficult to to unearth an e-mail in the midst of thousands of other e-mail. Like e-mails go into a special folder.
2. Compact your folder after deleting e-mails. You can set up a size in Account settings tp do automatic compacting, or whenever you feel like it.
