Thunderbird password

I just downloaded T-bird into my new laptop. Now it asked me for a password. It didn't like my password, or said it was wrong. I changed my password with my IP. It lets me send a message out, but will not receive a message in T-bird. It shows up in my other email, Cox, not T-bird.
Thanks,
Bob

Are you connected through your ISP? Or is the pc at another location using a different ISP? If so, most ISP won't allow you to send to keep you from "spoofing" aka looking like a spammer.

Passwords are not changed automatically. If you change a password which you, previously, had stored, you will have to delete the old password.Look in Tools|Options|Privacy|Saved passwords. You should have a Mailbox://username@pop.west.cox.net. Before doing that you may want to click on Saved passwords to verify that your password was stored.
I was saving passwords, and I had to do just that, i.e. delete he entry (I have Cox, and it is .central.). Or, I have no idea what you are saying.

. What is the non-Cox e-mail. And T-bird is a mail program, and Cox is an ISP.
But the fact that you can send out the message, but can't receive it, eliminates any spam controls.

It does show up on the Cox email, but doesn't show up in my Thunderbird email. I cleared the remembered password in Cox, but it didn't help. I wonder if it is the user name.

Now, I need some education. What is what you describe as Cox e-mail? And, how does it differ from Thunderbird e-mail.
Just remember that Cox is an Internet Service Provider (ISP), and not a mail program. Thunderbird is a mail program which allows one to set up all sort of accounts. My Thunderbird mail has five Cox accounts, two AOL, 2 AIM, and one Yahoo, when it works, and one Myway account, set up.
If you mean accessing the Cox mail at its website? And, is your account a:username@cox.net? If you make your changes at the Cox website, they will not extend to Thunderbird, if the same account is set up there.
I will say again what I said before:

with one small change. If you mean something else, please explain.
