A friend directed me to a web site which included a song being sung by the Statler Brothers.
I could hear nothing after several tries but others had no problem at all. I contacted the web site to see if they used a specific plug-in and they thought it was Media Player.
I think I have all the usual plug-ins so I am wondering if it is my browser. (Firefox)
I will be gone several days so may not get back to check things out.
Thanks.

I listening to the sound, after having clicked on the link. I have the MediaPlayerConnectivity add-on. It opens the default JetAudio, but does not play. But, when I change the default for .wav to Windows Media Player, it plays, but outside the page. Of course, as expected, the link plays internally, if I selected open it in IE Tab .And, it repeats playing.
As a conclusion, I must confirm what Ramona said, but it is not enough to stop me.
Firefox2.0.0.9 and clone Navigator9.0.0.3 behave alike.

I thought the MediaPlayer Connectivity add-on was for video?
I changed my .wav preference from QuickTime to Windows Media Player and still no dice. I'm using Firefox 2.0.0.9 to try to listen. I believe this is what Pat is using?

If you look at the configuration of the add-on, you will see that it can be selected to be used to play .mp3, and .pls files. In fact, I can't think of any time that I used it for videos. It works for me. And, with IE Tab there is no difference from what is seen in IE.
I, originally, used Navigator9, which is a clone of Firefox2.0.0.9, as well as Seamonkey1.1.6.
What is it with Firefox and IE that would be different?
Firefox, or any Mozilla application, and Opera adhere strictly to the The World Wide Web Consortium (W3C) Standard coding. MS does not adhere to these standards, hence sloppy coding which is not cross browser compliant.
Short for World Wide Web Consortium, an international consortium of companies involved with the Internet and the Web. The W3C was founded in 1994 by Tim Berners-Lee, the original architect of the World Wide Web. The organization's purpose is to develop open standards so that the Web evolves in a single direction rather than being splintered among competing factions.
I couldn't hear the sound using FF 2.0.0.9 either, but there's no need to leave FF to use IE. As Westside suggested, just use the IE Tab extension ... use FF's "Customize" feature to place the IE Tab icon on your FF toolbar. It works perfectly.
I confirm that it works with either extention, as I outlined above.
In summary with MediaPlayerConnectivity, the music will be played externally, in Windows Media Player. If you install, and setup IE Tab, the IE engine will used, but, you will, still, be in Firefox.
