Lost e-mail in inbox in Netscape Mail when doing Norton scan

Hello
I am new to this forum and have a question about lost e-mail. I just installed the Norton 2007 anti-virus for XP and when I closed all programs and ran a scan, when I returned to my Netscape mail inbox I found that all my inbox e-mails hav dissapeared! I did find them in a file on my computer, it's properties are -
"C:\Documents and Settings\LadyMorgana\Application Data\Mozilla\Profiles\default\4mdst14w.slt\Mail\incoming.verizon-17.net\Inbox"
Of course in that file is every inbox e-mail I have ever deleted since I got the computer but when viewing the file I cannot use Netscape mail and can only see them by using Word - and there is 9,000 plus pages of e-mails.
So, my question is how do I get those inbox e-mails back into Netscape Mail to view them there without having to open the accidentally deleted ones in Word and having to scroll through 9,000+ pages to find the important ones?
Every recovery program I have seen seems to be for Outlook only and I do not use Outlook, I use Netscape!
Help please.
Thanks!
Melissa

My System

Welcome to the Forum, LadyMorgana!

Norton has quarantined your Inbox, but you can use an option in the program, to prevent this in the future. Take a look at this Symantic KB Article: http://service1.symantec.com/SUPPORT...d/199829164436

You will want to add the following to the exceptions list:

C:\Documents and Settings\username\Application Data\Mozilla\Firefox\Profiles\xxxxxxxx.profilename\Mail\pop.isp.net\Inbox

I would also suggest adding .msf files, to prevent Norton from corrupting these files.

Also see: How to Restore a Quarantined Box

In the future, ensure that your Inbox has less than 1 GB of Mail. I would recommend keeping it much small than that. You risk losing all your Mail, as the Inbox is not intended for archiving. Organize your Mail using subfolders of your Mail Account. Also make a backup copy of your entire Profiles folder at least once/week, and more frequently if you use the browser daily. Take a look at this page: Preventive Browser Maintenance

I am using AVG as anti-virus, Sygate as Firewall, and I like the Startup Comtrol Panel. Any other program have given me headaches at one time or other. Zone Alarm has been a disaster, at least twice.
