    Isn't there an option in TB 2.0 for being asked if you want to send the unsent messages? I know there was one in the previous version, but of course I must be looking in the wrong place now. Or I'm still thinking in the terms of Netscape settings.

    I went through the Account Settings and then briefly the Options tabs.

    BTW, I also tried the Thunderbird web site.

    Thanks.

    Thanks.

    I probably never would have found it. I had to go over your very simple instructions twice.

    I suppose I'll just chalk it up to old age, old mind!!

    Appreciate your help as always.

    There is nothing wrong with you. I doubt that they could have done a better job of hiding the settings. Advanced|Network and Disk Space tab, and Offline button?
    I was interested in this issue, not so much because of sending Unsent mail, but more because of another issue. I, often, found some Kb in the Drafts folder, and not because I saved to send later, but, actually, on account of an obscure setting in Composition|General. Right under the Forward options, there an Autosave box with default of every 5 min. checked by default.
    Yesterday, I took a long time to compose an e-mail, being interrupted several times. After sending the e-mail, I noticed that I had three messages in the Draft folder. Each one a partial message which was backed up. And, very logically :rolleyes: , the only place where offline settings can be managed is with the Offline button. So, my e-mails must be short, or I change the frequency of auto-save, and I have to compact, at least my Drafts folder.
    Has anyone noticed this?

    Westside,

    Yes! I finally disabled the "Save every __ minutes" setting, and forgot about it!

    Ramona,
    I have had little problem with TB, and never noticed it. But, I have had the problem, regularly, using Seamonkey1.1.1. I noticed as many as five Drafts saved to one person. It is potentially a good setting, but ridiculous if the drafts are not removed on sending. Actually, they (or it), probably is removed on sending, but some Kbs are in the draft folder, which require compacting.
    As for SM who knows where the equivalent of the offline settings of TB are?
    I can't find them anywhere.

    Now on Tb 2.0.0.4Pre. I've been using Thunderbird since about Tb 0.7, I think. I find 'save every 5 mins' is checked. Never realised before. But it has never caused stuff to appear in the Drafts folder that I didn't deliberately allow to go there by hitting delete and save to Drafts, even though I sometimes take forever to finish writing an email. So ... is there something wrong with my settings, which are either not saving every 5 mins, or else deleting the partial drafts automatically when I do send, or.... is there something wrong with your settings? :confused:

    Edit - perhaps it is a matter of compacting, as you suggest. I do compact often.

    seamonkey 1.1.1
    setting = "true" in "mailnews.js "
    edit->preferences->Mail and NG->composition =top right = "automatically save.........." uncheck it
    or
    about:config = "mail.compose.autosave" = false

    TB 2.0.0.
    setting = "true" in mailnews.js
    you can uncheck in options general or thru config editor.

    If "mail.compose.autosave" = False - the interval is academic.

    but I could be wrong

    Hi Pat,

    I seldom save messages in the "Unsent Messages" folder, using the "Drafts" folder, instead. If you'd rather not have the requester pop up every time you open TB, and you do have unsent messages, simply open the "File" menu and click on "Send Unsent Messages ".

    Jim,

    I have it working now. (Thanks to Ramona)

    I have created several folders in my mailbox but sometimes there are various reasons that I don't want my email to go out right away. But I've ALWAYS
    had a problem with creating a folder named "unsent messages" in my Inbox. I could add it but my unsent messages would not go there. So when I do have an unsent message it goes to the Unsent Messages in LOCAL Folders. The other day I forgot that I had one in there and couldn't see that far down because all of the folders I've created. That's why, when I realized it was there, I wondered why I wasn't asked if I wanted to send it.

    I gave a couple of years ago when I couldn't create an Unsent Folders in my personal mailbox. I even went to Windows Explorer and deleted that little devil from the Local Folder. Just came right back. And the folder that I did create in my personal folder just wouldn't take the unsent messages.

    So that's my story and I'm sticking to it. <G>
