tenbob,

In the message header panel, upper right corner, on the same line with the column titles, there is a small icon with a down arrow. Click on that icon, and you have numerous choices for columns.

Tenbob,
if you mean sorting two different ways, like showing both ways side by side, or some other way, I don't see how it is possible.

I saw and tried that icon. I didn't notice tho: did it sort by subject and within subject by time/date when I select those two only.

Is that what you wanted?

tenbob,

If you use the icon, the columns are parallel, and that is the only way you can sort them. No sorting within Subject, etc.

The several responses were confusing to me. Perhaps I misled.

What I want to do is sort by thread (subject) and within those threads, I want to sort by date/time. That way I can follow the threads as entered.

That's an easy one,if you have threads, like from people replying to your e-mails.
In first place, I like to see the newest e-mails first, so I select View|Sort by|Descending. I put a tick mark at "date". Finally, I go down all the way to Threaded. Essentially, I have to make three choices.
You will save a change as you make any of the changes.

Yes, this can be done.
Single click, highlight target folder.
Now go TB's menu bar (?) and click on View.
Move your cursor down the list to Sort by.
A drop-down menu is now displayed, select Threaded.
This will group emails by subject as 1st sort.
You can now click on the icon/column and choose your 2nd sort. I prefer date.
I use this on one of my folders (sub-folder of in-box). It is for my work, does not receive much mail, but works very well in keeping "threaded" replies in groups. Hope it works for you
