LDAP Address Books

I use the IMAP protocol for my mail which allows me to access from anywhere. I use the IMAP server at www.fastmail.fm which has an internal address book when using the web interface, but (as far as I know) allows no LDAP access for addresses.

Where and how can I establish an address book on a emote server which I can access when using Thunderbird or Mulbery?
