What kind of order is the Netscape 7.2 Messenger dictionary in? Several times in my haste I've added a misspelled word and when I figure out how to do an "edit" on the dictionary I can not find the word. I've very slowly scrolled through the entire dictionary because there doesn't seem to be any specific order to it. Not a recent entry or alphabetical order.

Can it be edited through Windows Explorer. That is IF I can find it in the Netscape program.

    Thanks.

    vegaspat,

In Windows Explorer, browse to your *.slt folder and look for custom.dic. It's in alphabetical order, and if you open the file in Wordpad, you can do a search for the word by clicking on: Edit | Find.

Be sure to backup the file before editing... ;)

    P.S. How about those Cardinals?

    Ramona,

    Thanks for the info.

Yes those Cards were something else. I was never much of a sports fan but found myself caught up in those games. Some of those plays were fantastic.

I am now a real fan. The parade was even fun to watch. Those are a great bunch of guys.

    Ramona,

I found the dictionary as you noted but am now wondering why, when composing a message, are there words that show up and they are NOT in the file that I checked per your suggestion?

I purposely misspelled a word and was offered several alternates but none of those appearded in the custom dic file.

    vegaspat,

The words in the custom.dic file, are those which you add.

    Ramona,

So where are the words that appear in the box while you are using Messenger?
I know that there is an incorrect word in there but it does NOT appear in the custom.dic folder because I added it in error.

    vegaspat,

The alternatives you are offered if a word is misspelled, are in the English/United States dictionary which is included in the Mail & Newsgroups component. There should be an Icon in the Compose window.

If you added a misspelled word to your custom dictionary, then it should still be in the file. I too misspelled a word, then added the word to the Personal Dictionary. When I opened the custom.dic file the word was there...

Use Wordpad, and do a Search for the word.
