Hi, I got myself in a real pickle now. After a format & install of everything I can no longer save jpegs to my hard drive. I'm using Acdsee to view. I have been saving to a folder (pictures) but now I click on "save image as" and nothing happens. Am I missing something in preferences here? Never had this before, these usually default so there is no issue. I save these images for work making them mighty important

I have deleted & reinstalled acdsee, totally gone through netscape preferences,
deleted the folder where I'd save the jpegs and still nothing.

.jpg are downloads, so this case about inabilty to download could be your problem.
Before doing any see what you have in Tools|Download Manager. In NS7.2 a record of what you downloaded remains, and if not cleared, sooner or later, you will be stuck.

Thanks westside, I took one more stab at fixing the prob. It turned out to be a file asscoiation issue. Yes westside, under download manager there are images now as there were none before.

It seems to have been an easy problem to fix, but delete the entries in the download manager. They have no practical use, and if allowed to accumulate they will give you trouble. Later programs(not Netscape) allow you select to remove the downloaded files from the list. But NS7.2 has this bug.
Another thing is not to allow NS to open file by default, from Advanced|System.
That will place the incorrect file associations. If you make NS7.2 default, you should uncheck everything except for HTML documents.

    Bimmer Guy,

Time to start making plans to move to either SeaMonkey, if you prefer a suite, or to Firefox and Thunderbird. Netscape 7 is now defunct, many security vulnerabilities, and bugs. These issues have all been addressed in the newer browsers. ;)

Hi Ramona, not sure if I'll bite the bullit yet.
Thanks westside, all is unchecked except html docs. How would unchecking all cause me to be stuck?

Unchecking should not be the cause of problems. I brought it up only because when you make NS default, it would check to become default for Image files.
I, also, believe that upgrading is in order, but it is up to you. Hang on, and keep your fingers crossed. But, do not install a later program, and use the same profile, while Netscape is still installed. No sharing allowed.
But, whenever in doubt, try to get whatever you have problem with, unstuck. I happened to me with a Personal Toolbar bookmark. It took nine shots before I got rid of it. But, usually, three times is the charm.
