I can open the browser but when I try to go to another page or site,
the browser shuts down. I reloaded the program directly off the Mozilla website, but the problem persists.

Is this the first time you got Firefox. I don't care for long drawn out explanations, but you are not providing anything to go by. You can look at this reply

    flatfoot,

When you say you "loaded the program directly from the Mozilla site" did you download the full install or zip install?

    Are you using Version 1.0.7?

Is it any site you try to access or is it sites that use Flash?

Do you get a "Connection Refused" error, or any other error? If so post the error here.

Are you running a Firewall, and if so, is Firefox blocked?

Have you run AdAware, SpoBot, or another Spyware detector program to ensure that you have no trojans, or bugs?

Every time I have seen this, it turned out to be a problem with an extension.
If you recently added one , I would uninstall it and reboot and see if that solves it.
Otherwise, you may want to try seeing if they have options to disable or uninstalling them one at a time (after verifying that you can still get that one ).
I do not think they have an extension manager for 1.0.7 like they used to which lets you enable / disable them .

If it is Firefox, then Start|All programs|Mozilla Firefox (Safe Mode) will open Firefox with all extentions disabled.

This is flatfoot, thank you for your replies.
    - Am running XP that has Sun-Java
    - I used Firefox for one month with no problems
    - Used the Zip Install from Mozilla, with standard features installed
    - Did not get a "Connection Refused" or any other errors, just shut down
    - I am running a firewall but never mess with it
    - Did run AdAware, Spybot and MacAffee, found no trojans

I loaded the 1.0.7 with standard features installed.
Are there any options I should turn-off?

    regards, flatfoot
