HBO 'Rome' Theme for Mozilla Firefox Coming

HBO 'Rome' Theme for Mozilla Firefox Coming

In a weblog post, Asa Dotzler has announced that a Mozilla Firefox theme based on the HBO drama Rome will be launched on Wednesday. The theme will be distributed from the HBO Rome website as part of the marketing campaign for the historical drama, which is a co-production of HBO (the US cable and satellite channel responsible for Six Feet Under and The Sopranos) and the BBC (the UK's national publicly-funded broadcaster). According to Blake Ross, the theme will be promoted in an advertisement in the New York Times.

ad fontes, I always say.

Isn't that Latin for "up with open-source"?

I for one can't wait to try that theme out. Could be the first time I don't let wifey in on the decision as to what theme to use. Ramona, that's the best news coming out of Mozilla since I realized that Mozilla had a built-in popup blocker, password manager, easy cookie handling, tabbed browsing, quick and easy bookmark managing, and accumulated less spyware on my computer than IE.

Paul,

I'm glad you're so enthused about the new Theme. I think it will be cool myself, as long as it causes no problem in Firefox!

Ad fontes is a famous Latin phrase which means "To the sources", a motto of Renaissance humanism. However, I like your definition much better!

Hmmm I downloaded it. Can't say I like it much, but I'm going to give it a few days to get used to it--the dominant color is blood red; the icons are a bit too obscure for me (Bookmarks and Home look much alike). The address bar blocks out half of the letters R-O-M-E, but like I said I'm gonna see what I think of it in a few days.

I'm with your Paul, and that the "ROME HBO" was blocked out was really pretty dismal. I uninstalled it..

Yikes! I read the comments in the link you posted Dennis. yeah the more I think about it, the more I'm going to cut short my 3-day trial. I don't ever recall seeing such a negative reaction on any piece of software/app/tool whatever. The one that summed it up for me: "two minutes of my life that I will never get back"
