I've read Ramona's comments and see another version of lost mail perhaps.
Today whle working on the computer something happened which I didn't see.
When I closed netscape and reopened it I got a new message from netscape asking if I wanted to download Netscape 8. I responded no and the box closed, but my home page was changed to netscape homepage.
I went to edit/preference and changed it back to excite.com. That worked, but when I went for the email messages they were gone. I can pinpoint the time 11:55am.
In Find file, I find Cache files created at 11:55am
Now the only profile that changed is the one that I logged in on gmt.bc
The other mail profiles work fine.
In the Profile for gmt.bc in explore mode show the local folders with draft and draft msf files. The inbox, sent only have sent msf and inbox msf.
Is there a way to move the Cache (which I think are the files that disappeared) back to inbox and sent?
I'm a novice....Remember the 5 day scramble last year Ramona?
Thanks in advance.
I have a backup profile, but it is a couple of months old now and so many messages will be lost if I use it.
Gloria
dumbfounded again!

First of all, do you have Check for updates checked in your Preferences|Advanced|Software installations|Check for updates? Uncheck it if checked. It is pointless, and dangerous.
Don't worry about the Cache, because it doesn't contain your settings, but it would be good to know what is the situation with your profiles and the .slt folder which they contain. Ramona's Netscape Solutions has some good info in locating the profile folders The check for updates feature has caused more problems than I could understand. Let's see what you got, before proceeding.
