    migration

I want to move all netscape 7.2 email folder and messages from a win98 machine to a new computer running win2K. The new machine has netscape 8.0. Furthermore, I want to move the old netscape 7.2 email files to eudora 6.2.

The questions are four: 1. what files do I copy in netscape 7.2 mail?
    2. where do I put those files in the new computer?
    3. Can I transfer these files via email from the old netscape files to the new computer (as long as I have already set up a eudora personality on the new machine)?
    4. Will eudora 6.2 be able to import or read the old netscape email folders and messages, or how do I make that happen?

Thanks very much for your help. neuron

    Welcome to the Forum, neuron!

    neuron,

    1. Copy the files in the Mail Account Folder without the MSF extension. Also copy the SBD folders, which are the subfolders. Delete all files with MSF extensions in the SBD folders.

    2. If you have already installed Netscape 7.2, copy these files without the MSF extension to the Mail Account folder located here:
    C:\Documents and Settings\user_name\Application Data\Mozilla\Profiles\profilename\*.slt\Mail\pop.isp.net

May I suggest that you forgo Netscape 7.2, due to security vulnerabilities, and instead install Firefox 1.0.4, which is a browser only, or Mozilla 1.7.8, which with a "Custom" install, you can opt out of the Mail program.

    3. Sure, you can do that if you don't have a lot of messages.

    4. Yes, Eudora is compatible with Netscape, Mozilla, and Firefox. I would imagine that there will be an option in the installation of Eudora for the purpose of migrating Netscape 7.2 Mail. I am not familiar with Eudora, but they do have an excellent KB here: http://www.eudora.com/techsupport/win/#search
